Clinicopathologic features,diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic myopericytoma:one case report and re-view of the literature

Abstract:

Objective

To study the clinicopathologic features,diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic my opericytoma.

Methods

One case with pancreatic myopericytoma in our hospital and others from a review of the literature were analyzed retrospectively.

Results

The histologic feature of myopericytoma reported was the presence of round and/or oval cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm arranged circumferentially in layers around vascular lumina. Immunohistochemical stains showed the oval cells around vessel were positive for SMA and Actin. The other muscle markers such as desmin, S100, HBM45 and CD34 were negative.

Conclusions

Pancreatic myopericytoma is a benign tumor.It is difficult to diagnose pancreatic myopericytoma correctly because of atypical clinical manifestations.Correct diagnosis depends on histopathologic examination.Resection with complete removal of pancreatic myopericytoma is the most perfecttreatment.
