Abstract:
Objective
To estimate the expression of heat-shock pr otein 90α(HSP90α)in gastric cancer and normal gastric mucosa, and to find out its relationships to the occurring, developing and biological behavior of gastric cancer.
Methods
The specimens of 46 cases with gastric cancer were collected, including 46 cases of gastric cancer and their normal mucosa. Immunohistochemical staining was performed for the expressions of HSP90α,and the results were analyzed with patients'clinicopathological data.
Results
The positive expression rates of HSP90αwas 82.6%,which was higher than that in normal mucosa (21.7%).The expression of HSP90α in gastric cancer was not closely relative to age, sex, tumor size and different differentiation extent. The positive ex pression rate of HSP90αin muscularis/over-muscularis group was higher than that in mucosa/submucosa group(89.5%vs 50.0%,P<0.05).The positive expression rate of HSP90α in gastric cancer in N2,N3 stage was higher than that in gastric cancer in N0 and N1 stage (96.2% vs 65.0%, P<0.05). The positive expression rate of HSP90α in TNM Ⅲ,Ⅳstage was 92.9%,higher than that in other stages (66.7%,P<0.05).
Conclusions
The level of HSP90α expression in gastric cancer is higher than that in normal gastric mucosa. With more lymph nodes metastasized,HSP90α expression increases. The more advanced the gastric cancer, the more the HSP90αexpression.The high expression of HSP90α in gastric cancer indicates poor prognosis.
