Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the relationship of CD15s and CD138 in invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).

Methods

Immunohistochemical method was used to detect CD15s and CD138 expression in 110 cases of HCC from February 1990 to May 2006.

Results

Positive expression rate of CD15s and CD138 in HCC were 39.1% and 46.4%, respectively.HCC with positive expression of CD15s had higher metastatic rate(P<0.05), poorer 5-years survival rate(P<0.05); HCC with positive CD138 expression had lower metastatic rate(P<0.05) and higher 5-years survival rate(P<0.05). The expression of CD15s was negatively correlated to CD138 expression in HCC(P<0.05).

Conclusions

The expression of CD15s and CD138 is closely related to the potential of metastasis and survival rate in HCC.CD15s and CD138 may be clinically used as prognostic indicators in HCC.

Key words: Hepatocellular carcinoma, CD15s, CD138, Neoplasm metastasis
