Abstract:

Objective

To explore various methods of improving the follow-up rate of the postoperative patients with colorectal cancer.

Methods

The follow-up rate of 2092 patients with colorectal cancer from August 1994 to December 2007 were analyzed retrospectively. The first stage was from August 1994 to December 1999, and the second stage was from January 2000 to December 2007. Both stages were compared in the follow-up rate.

Results

The follow-up rate had been improved year after year. The follow-up rate of the patients with colorectal cancer in the first stage was 67.3%, which was lower than that in the second stage(95.4%, P<0.01).

Conclusion

Using various follow-up measures and normalizing follow-up system can improve the follow-up rate of the postoperative patients with colorectal cancer.
