Expression of TLR4 and its relationship with cell apoptosis and proliferation in breast cancer

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the expression of TLR4 in breast cancer and their relationship with cell apoptosis and proliferation.

Methods

The expression of TLR4 and PCNA in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues were assessed by immunohistochemical method and the apoptosis was detected by the TUNEL method.

Results

The TLR4 expression in cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues. Expression of TLR4 increased gradually with the progress of T stages, N stages, M stages and the ratio of apoptic index to proliferative index (P<0.05), but it had no correlation with histological grade.

Conclusion

TLR4 over expressed in breast cancer can promote cell proliferation, and play an important role in the pathogenesis of human breast cancer.
