Meta-analysis of the effect of glutamine on immune function in patients with gastric cancer in China

Abstract:

Objective

To study the impact of the glutamine parenteral nutrition on immufunction in the gastric cancer.

Methods

Clinical controlled trails including glutamine on immune function were collected from CBMdisc,CNKI and VIP from 2001 to 2010. The methodological quality of included studies was evaluated, and data analyses were performed with The Cochrane Collaboration's software RevMan 5.0.25.

Results

A total of four clinical controlled trials were included in the study. Meta analysis showed with using glutamine after the trial, the immune function of patients were enhanced, the CD4, CD4/CD8 ratios were 9.15, 0.51 (P<0.01).

Conclusion

Glutamine in parenteral nutrition for patients with gastric cancer can improve and enhance the immune function under stress.
