Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the expression of KiSS-1, MUC1 and E-cad in breast cancer and their correlations to clinicopathologic character.

Methods

The expression of TLR4, NF-κB and AP-1 in 106 specimens of breast cancer were detected by immunohistochemistry, and their correlations to the clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer were analyzed. The correlations of TLR4 expression to NF-κB and AP-1 were analyzed by Spearman’s rank correlation.

Results

The expressions of TLR4, NF-κB and AP-1 had some relation with T, M, N stages and clinical stages of breast cancer (P < 0.05), but they had no correlation with age and menopause (P > 0.05). Expressions of TLR4, NF-κB and AP-1 increased gradually with the progress of T, M, N stages and clinical stages (P < 0.05). Expressions of NF-κB increased gradually with the progress of histological grade (P < 0.05). The positive correlation was observed between TLR4 expression and AP-1 expression (r = 0.816, P < 0.05).

Conclusion

TLR4 over expressed in human breast cancer can activate AP-1 signaling pathway, may promote proliferation, invasion and metastasis of breast cancer cell, and may affect the prognosis of patients.

Key words: Breast neoplasm, TLR4, NF-κB, AP-1
