This concept also applies to non-trauma abdominal emergencies in order to reduce mortality and immediate post-operative complications. It can avoid extensive procedures on unstable patients, stabilizes potentially fatal problems at initial operation, and applies staged surgery after successfully initial resuscitation. This review will discuss each of these concepts in detail.
