Abstract:

Abdominal cocoon syndrome is characterised by that the small intestine is wrapped in a layer of fiber membrane of anomalies, with major changes of peritoneal thickening, hardening, and then gradually being narrowed, and loss of ultrafiltration, leading to partial or complete intestinal obstruction. The pathogenesis and clinical manifestation of AC is nonspecific; therefore, preoperative diagnosis is difficult. Most cases are accidentally discovered intraoperatively or during autopsy, since surgery is difficult to be scheduled. It is more important to deepen the understanding and improve the cure rate of this disease.
