Abstract:

Objective

To study the expression of tribbles 3 (TRIB3) in the carcinogenesis of colonic polyps and its clinical significance.

Methods

From January 2017 to January 2019, 85 colonic polyps (polyps group) and 87 colonic cancer tissue samples (colon cancer group) from Hainan People’s Hospital were collected, and 102 normal colonic tissues were taken as control (normal group). The expression degrees of TRIB3 in the three groups were determined by immunohistochemistry, and the relationship between the expression level and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed.

Results

The positive expression rates of TRIB3 in normal group, polyps group and colon cancer group were 15.69% (16/102), 60.00% (51/85) and 95.74% (90/94), respectively. There was significant difference among the three groups (χ2=128.010, P<0.001). The expression level of TRIB3 was related to pathological classification in colonic polyps (χ2=12.650, P=0.013), and it was related to clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and differentiation degree in colon cancer (all P<0.05).

Conclusion

The expression of TRIB3 is graduallyup-regulated during the carcinogenesis of colon polyps, which is related to the clinical stage, metastasis situation and differentiation of colon cancer, and is expected to become a clinical indicator for detecting colon polyps carcinogenesis.
