Abstract:

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common disease in clinic. Selective aneurysm repair which including open surgery and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is the most effective method to prevent rupture in asymptomatic patients. Other factors such as the patients’ age, the rate of aneurysm dilatation, coexisting peripheral artery disease and the presence of peripheral aneurysms are also important factors in determining when selective AAA repair is performed. Therefore, how to manage asymptomatic AAA patients daily, when to perform selective surgery, what kind of repair method to choose and the short-term as well as long-term effect of patients after operation are the problems which vascular surgeons have to face. This article will review the treatment status and management measures of asymptomatic AAA, in order to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
