Abstract:

Objective

To assess the value of endovascular intervention in treating patients with lower extremity arteriosclerotic occlusive disease.

Methods

Ninty patients who underwent the interventional treatments from March 2006 to September 2009 were analyzed retrospectively.

Results

The total technical success rate was 94.4%(85/90). Compared with the treatment before, average ankle brachial index(ABI) elevation was 0.22±0.15(P<0.05). Eighty-seven patients (96.7%) were followed up from 3 months to 36 months postoperatively. One patients, 2 patients,6 patients, 4 patients were respectively recurrent in 3, 6, 12, 30 months. Ten patients were improved after second interventional treatment, 1 patients with a major amputation, 1 patients with a minor amputation, 1 patients with metatarsal surgical amputation. Amputation rate during follow-up period was 3.3% (3/90), mortality was 3.3% (3/90).

Conclusion

The endovascular treatment of lower extremity arteriosclerotic occlusive disease is safe, effective, mini-invasive, and repetitive, but its long-term investigation is needed.
