Nutritional risk screen and investigation on nutritional support of hospitalized patients in hospitals of Shandong

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the prevalence of nutritional risks and nutritional support in department of general surgery in parts of hospitals in Shandong.

Methods

Totally 5376 patients in thirty four hospitals were enrolled from November 2012 to February 2013 by fix-point consecutive sampling. The improved version of NRS 2002 was applied.

Results

The BMI of 4843 patients was recoreded. Malnutrition and nutrition risk occurrence rates were 7.64% and 17.64%. The support rate was 84.0% in malnutrition risk patients. Non-must support rate was 11.4%. Parenteral and enteral nutritional support ratio was 3.81∶1.Tube feeding and oral support ratio was 1.61∶1. All in One infusion and single infusion ratio was 1.55∶1.

Conclusions

The nutritional risk rate of patients is not high in Department of general surgery in parts of hospitals in Shandong Province .There exists certain irrationality in nutritional support.
