Clinical characteristics and diagnosis and therapy of remnant gastric carcinoma

Abstract:

With the development of technology, the diagnosis of remnant gastric carcinoma had been increasing year by year. The clinical characteristics and risk factors that are different from those of the gastric carcinoma had attracted more and more attention from clinicians. Due to the atypicality of the early stage, remnant gastric carcinoma was difficult to diagnose in early stage, so that regular follow-up visits should be done among patients who had received subtotal gastrectomy for certain years. The anatomic structure been changed in the first operation, bringing more difficulties to the surgery of remnant gastric carcinoma. In this article, several researches were reviewed. The definition, the clinical characteristics, the possible relevant factors, the diagnosis and therapy and the prognosis of remnant gastric carcinoma are summarized, to enhance the awareness of this disease and relevant diagnostic and therapeutic principle.
