Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the apoptosis of metastasis in hepatocellular carcinoma by Traditional Chinese Medicine-JianPiHuaYu (TCMJ).

Methods

Metastatic models of human hepatocellular carcinoma in thirty-fine nude mice (MHCC-97)were made and randomly divided into five groups: Chinese herbal medicine of high metastatic group and its control, the Chinese herbal medicine of low metastatic group and its control, the blank control group. The appearance, size, weigh, and metastasis in and outside liver, the rate of apoptosis peak were observed.

Results

Metastasis appeared in the entire study group. TCMJ couldn’t stop the formation of cancer inside liver but it could stop the metastasis beyond the liver effectively, especially in high group.Furthermore, there were differences in the rate of apoptosis peak, weigh, size, and metastasis beyond liver and the high metastasis group benefit more than the lower metastasis group. tumors were found in the gastrointestinal and spleen, but not lung.

Conclusion

TCMJ can induce apoptosis of high and low metastatic cells of HCC(MHCC-97), especially in high metastatic cells line.It also inhibits distant metastasis in lower and high metastasis cell line, but can not prevent the HCC from relapsing.
