Treatment for the intestinal stricture and obstruction in Crohn's disease

Abstract:

Crohn's disease(CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can affect the entire digestive tract. The most common lesion of CD is terminal ileum and right hemicolon. The intestinal stricture that occurs in the course of about one third of the patients with CD often leads to intestinal obstruction. This article reviews the development of surgery, endoscopic balloon dilation and intestinal stent insertion, and laparoscopy in the treatment for the intestinal stricture and obstruction of CD.
