Abstract:

α-Mangostin is the most bioactive anoxanthone compound isolated from the shell of mangosteen. Many studies have found that α-Mangostin has antitumor effect, such as that it can induce cell cycle arrest, inhibit cell survival, induce apoptosis and differentiation, reduce inflammation and adhesion, and reduce the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells. This article reviews the recent studies on the antitumor effect of α-Mangostin to provide valuable directions for the development and application of anti-tumor drug.

Key words: Antineoplastic agents, Phytogenic, α-Mangostin, Garcinia mangostana, Molecular mechanisms of pharmacological action
