Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the expression of long non-coding RNA-CECR7 (lncRNA-CECR7) in gastric cancer and its relationship with prognosis.

Methods

Seventy-eight patients with gastric cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College from May 2015 to May 2016 were studied. The relative expression of lncRNA-CECR7 in gastric cancer tissues and adjacent tissues was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (RT-PCR). The relationship between the expression of lncRNA-CECR7 and the clinicopathological parameters of patients were analyzed. Kaplan-Meier curve survival analysis and Cox regression analysis were used to analyze the factors affecting the 3-year survival rate.

Results

The expression level of lncRNA-CECR7 in gastric cancer tissues was higher than that in adjacent tissues (1.87±0.25 vs 1.05±0.13, t=25.701, P<0.001). The expression of lncRNA-CECR7 was correlated with tumor size, Borrmann typing, TNM stage, differentiation type and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). The 3-year survival rate was 62.82%. Tumor size, TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and expression of lncRNA-CECR7 were independent factors affecting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients (P<0.05). The survival rate of low expression group of lncRNA-CECR7 was significantly higher than that of high expression group of lncRNA-CECR7 (77.14% vs 51.16%, χ2=5.576, P=0.018).

Conclusion

lncRNA-CECR7 is highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues, which is related to tumor size, Borrmann typing and TNM stage, and is a risk factor for 3-year survival of gastric patients.
