Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the relationship between the expression of miR-490-3p clinicopathological features and prognosis of gastric cancer.

Methods

The relative expression of miR-490-3p in cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues of 80 patients with gastric cancer were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), and the relationship between it and clinicalpathological characteristics was analyzed. Kaplan-Meier curve and Cox proportional risk regression model were used for prognostic analysis.

Results

The relative expression of miR-490-3p in cancer tissues was (0.652±0.072), which was lower than (1.259±0.069) of normal adjacent tissues, with a statistically significant difference (t=40.528, P<0.05). The expression of miR-490-3p was significantly correlated with the depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and TMN staging (P<0.05). There was a significant difference in progression free survival between patients with low expression and high expression (23 months vs 30 months, χ2=8.583, P=0.03). miR-490-3p, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage were independent prognostic factors of gastric cancer (HR=2.396, 0.472, 0.230, all P<0.05).

Conclusion

The down-regulation of miR-490-3p may promote the proliferation, differentiation and migration of gastric cancer, and may become a potential molecular marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer.
