Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinical features of endogenous fungal endophthalmitis in orthotopic liver transplantation.

Methods

A case of endogenous fungal endophthalmitis in orthotopic liver transplantation was reported and the interrelated literatures were reviewed.

Results

Endogenous fungal endophthalmitis rarely occured in orthotopic liver transplantation. This was the only one of the over 300 cases that had done orthotopic liver transplantations in our hospital. Early diagnosis was rather difficult, early operation and pathologic biopsy was helpful for diagnosis and treatment.Much attention should be paid to the side effects of the systemic anti-fungus medicines.

Conclusions

It is difficult to diagnose the endogenous fungal endophthalmitis in orthotopic liver transplantation early.Operative intervention is recommended as early as possible if patients'systemic condition is suitable, while prognosis ofvisual function isn't favourable.
