Clinical analyse of tension-free repair inguinal hernia in aged people by multi-filament polyester mesh

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of tension-free repair by multi-filament polyester mesh in aged people with inguinal hernia.

Methods

The clinical data of 56 aged patients(6 cases both) of inguinal hernia in our department between March 2005 and April 2007 who had receieved tension-free repair were analyzed retrospectively.

Results

No incision in fection or scrotal edema happened after operation, and there was only light pain feeling in minor incision area. Moreover, there was no analgesics in treatment, and the patients could move freely 2 to 3 days after operation. The 4 years follow-up showed recurrence rate was 1.8%.

Conclusions

Tension-free repair by multi-filament polyester mesh can not only reduce the recurrence rate effectively, but also have low complication incidence such as scrotal swelling and incision infection, postoperative light pain and rapid recovery, which is the perfect method to the inguinal hernia in aged people.
