Methods

The clinical data of 67 patients undergoing liver transplantation in our hospital from Jan. 2000 to Dec. 2009 were studied retrospectively in order to analyze severe pulmonary infection incidence, fatality rate and susceptible factors as well as treatment strategy.

Results

There were 9 of 67 patients who caught pulmonary infection and the incidence was 13.4%. The mortality rate in the patients who developed pulmonary infection was 11.1%. Pulmonary infection can be caused by the factors before or after operation.

Conclusions

The incidence and mortality of pulmonary infection after liver transplantation are high. The key factors to improve the effects of liver transplantation are reasonably prevented pulmonary infection, timely treat and diagnose early after surgery. The clinical doctor should modify diagnosis and treatment for patients according to characteristics of pathogenic microorganism epidemiology in local area combine with individuals, more importantly, constitute schemes of prevention and treatment reasonably based on practice medicine conditions.
