Abstract:

Objective

To explore whether there is significant correlation between the SDF-1α G801A polymorphism and the risk of gastric cancer in the Han nationality of Northwest China.

Methods

A total of 131 cases with gastric cancer and 76 healthy controls were enrolled from Shaanxi Provincial People’sHospital between June 2016 and July 2018. The clinical and pathological data of the subjects were analyzed. The DNA fragment near 801 site of SDF-1 gene was amplified by restriction enzyme digestion PCR with MSP, and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of SDF-1α G801A locus in the peripheral blood were detected.

Results

The SDF-1α G801A polymorphism was significantly related to the risk of gastric cancer. The genotype G/G (P=0.002, OR=0.40, 95% CI: 0.22-0.71) and G/A (P=0.002, OR=2.52, 95% CI: 1.41-4.52) were significantly related to the susceptibility of gastric cancer. Further stratified analysis found that the SDF-1α G/A mutant population had a significantly increased risk of gastric cancer when infected with H.pylori (P<0.05).

Conclusion

G801A polymorphism of SDF-1α gene is significantly associated with the risk of gastric cancer in the Han nationality of Northwest China, and the risk of gastric cancer with H.pylori infection is significantly higher in people with the G/A genotype.
