Abstract:
Objective
To investigate the feasibility of biotic patch in reparing hernia though comparative observation of postoperative histopathology changes of biotic and polypropylene patch in reparing abdominal-wall defect of susscrota domestica.
Methods
A 6 cm×4 cm muscle and aponeurotic membrane defect was made on abdominal wall at both right and left side of rectus abdominis in 10 piglets, the left abdominal-wall defect was repaired by biotic patch, the right side using polypropylene patch. The patch was removed for observation and histopathology examination 1,3,6 and 12 month postoperatively and respectively.
Results
There were no incisional hernia postoperatively. The polypropylene patch was unabsorbable, and the inflammatory reaction was obvious, while comparatively, the local inflammatory reaction was less to the biotic patch side, and the biotic patch was gradually degenerated, absorpted and replaced by connective tissue.
Conclusion
Histocompatibility of biotic patch is suitable to induce histo-regeneration,the defect can be repaired reproduciblely.Biotic patch would be one kind of ideal material for hernia repairing.
