Abstract:
Objective To investigate the hospitalization of gastric cancer patients with surgery from the recent ten years for providing basis for management, clinical prevention and treatment.
Methods Data of 2 115 cases with gastric cancer undergoing surgery including gender, age, pathological type, treatment choices, efficiency, cost and so on were selected and retrospectively analyzed, through medical records retrieval system during 2005-2014.
Results During the recent ten years, the inpatients with gastric cancer showed a rising trend. The risk of gastric cancer increased with age, and men aged over 50 years old higher than women patients. The common location was gastric antrum and the common pathologic type was adenocarcinoma (86.3%). Surgery was still the main treatment for patients with gastric cancer. The pathogenic site of gastric cancer had a greater impact on the treatment plan. Length of hospital stay before and after operation was (9.8±5.3) days and (14.2±10.2) days respectively, with a mean of (23.9±11.9) days. The average hospitalization expense was (68 792.1±47 673.9) yuan. The proportion of drug fees acounted for 41.0%. Postoperative complication rate was 8.9%.
Conclusions The middle- and aged male should pay attention to gastric cancer. The therapeutic effect and efficiency are satisfactory with reasonable cost structure in the hospital.
